*THOMAS NEWBERRY (d. 1635/6) is considered the patriarch of the quintessential early Newberry family.  He immigrated after the  DORCHESTER ADVENTURERS and settled in  Dorchester, MA circa 1634 with his second wife and seven children.  His son John was supposedly hanged in Windsor 1647.  See document showing he lived.

*REV. WALTER NEWBURGH (d. 1630) was instrumental in the immigration of families from England to the New World.  While he did not immigrate, he was friends with Rev. John White who organized the Puritans in England to remove to NEW ENGLAND.  His family were collaterals to the Newburgh families who migrated to Dorchester.

*RICHARD NEWBURY (b. April 1611, d. 1685) was another early immigrant who was first recognized as a freeman in Weymouth, MA in 1643.  He later moved his home to Malden, MA where he died in 1685.  He was friends with the renown physician and poet Michael Wigglesworth.  Richard was of S. Osmore, Membury, Devon.  He was the son of Roger Newbury and Alice Pinney.

*WALTER NEWBURY (d. 1697) was a Quaker and came from London about 1673.  He settled in Rhode Island.  His children continued his legacy on both sides of the pond.  His descendants scattered far and wide settling many of the Quaker strongholds in the U.S.  from N.J., PA., and N.C.

Researchers working on this line are:  Connie W. Jim N. and Sue S.
 *WILLIAM NEWBURY (b. 1675)
Walter Newberry bought land in N. J., but there seems to be no proof that he ever lived in New Jersey.  However, it is believed that Henry Newberry b. 1668 RI was his son &  and was married there in abt 1703.  I am descended from Henry's son William b. abt 1687 NJ and d. 1726 NJ.  New Jersey is my primary starting point in researching my Newberry family.

*SAMUEL NEWBERRY from Ireland
Early research into Samuel Newberry suggests that his line is descended from the Dorset and Somerset family of the UK.  We are currently investigating immigration by one of Thomas Newburgh's descendants to the Ireland, by the name of Brockhill Newburgh.
