COLLABORATION

Since the DNA project's founding in 2009, we have garnered many participants, all with the similar goals of learning more about their respective families through YDNA.  In 2015, WWNP ceased participation on the DNA project.

Two companies have been involved in YDNA testing,
DNA Consultants, and Family Tree DNA, there have been others who have provided their results from other companies world wide.

While both companies have done work on the Newberry surname project, the administrators of both surname study groups are currently striving to bring the results together.  This will provide more information to the clients who have tested previously. With a better pool, more comparisons and links can be established.  The secondary goal is to attract more individuals to the science of DNA and to identify more common family lines.

A less scientific way to help folks identify matches is by providing a simply pedigree or ahnentafel.  These have been provided by various folks who have either tested their DNA with the WWNP project, or have inquired at this web site for more information regarding their own family genealogy.

A PDF file of pedigrees, will be updated periodically, and provide a page for each participant to detail their personal family line.  These will be filed alphabetically by participant, and cross referenced by location to help seekers find cousins.  (This feature is currently in the process of development.  Watch this space.)

Some folks who offer their pedigrees, have already done DNA tests, others have simply provided a pedigree for comparison. Most will feature a reference email so you can contact participants.  If you are a participant we would encourage you to keep your contact information updated.  Genealogy and DNA records are an ongoing project.

Jeanette Knight administers several web pages where DNA results and comparisons can be found.  It is up to my DNA participants at WWNP to submit their own results to Jeanette to compare, if they choose.  If not, results will be kept, as they always have been, under strict confidentiality. I would encourage you to submit your results, because, as the body continues to grow, she will have tools for making effective comparisons.
